Now if I were one of those people who make everything secular into some sort of Christian evangelical message I would talk about how we need to keep believing but no the truth is that I found this on YouTube and I have been playing it all this week. And the fact that it was done in one take is cool.
So I have been working and listening to audio books and not so much music. But this popped in my head just before dinner. So enjoy some Cheap Trick via Postmodern Jukebox.
Yes once again we have the Postmodern Jukebox off their album Fake Blues. Frank X. Turk pointed me to this cover and I am glad he did.
I love what these guys do with contemporary songs and I have to admit that this is the first time I have understood all the lyrics.
I absolutely adore what Scott Bradlee is doing with the covers he is remixing into ragtime and classic big band style. Case in point here is The Cure’s Just Like Heaven done in Glen Miller’s style.
This version of Seven Nation Army by Postmodern Jukebox was brought to my attention by the artist of Catbeard the Pirate if you get a chance you might want to check out his all age web comic.
Scott Bradlee’s group Postmodern Jukebox has taken many modern pop songs and reinterpreted them in a ragtime, jazz, or swing version of the song. Various musicians and singers play with the group this song features Haley Reinhart. Enjoy.
So these guys blow me away they take contemporary songs and remix them into old swing, motown, or big band style. They did a seven song album of Nickelback covers in a Motown style you can find it here. So enjoy a different type of cover song.
