Review: Jessica Jones Season 2

Showrunner: Melissa Rosenberg

Cast: Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville, J.R. Ramirez, Terry Chen, Leah Gibson, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Janet McTeer

Plot: How Jessica Jones became a hard-drinking, meaningless sex having, detective/super hero.

I was stoked for this season, Jessica Jones had been one of the better MCU shows on Netflix and so I was looking forward to ruining my sleep and binge watching the entire season.  But unfortunately that wasn’t something to lose sleep over, especially on the weekend of daylight savings time.

My main complaints are the lack of a good villain, although when David Tennant shows up as a hallucination of Kilgrave I will admit it was the best episode, too many side stories, and the “family drama”.

I understand that this is how Jessica got her powers story but why couldn’t they have done it similar to the Luke Cage version?  That shouldn’t have been much more than two maybe three episodes at the most.  But no, meander around with the whining foster-sister, psychotic mother, mad scientist, and the lawyer.  And frankly the lawyer why did that little subplot need to be played out?  I would have like the main bad guy  had been the mad scientist trying to get back his creation, Jessica Jones, and her trying to keep out of his hands.

Anyway I can’t recommend this season I think they really let down the fans.
