Don’t see this movie.  To say that I was disappointed would be too weak a word.  And let me state for the record that I have seen some horrible movies in my time.  Movies that even a guy and his three robots heckling at the screen couldn’t improve it.  But I had hope for this film mainly because it was so very pretty.  But what it had in effects was done away with by both the plot, what there was of it, and the lack of je ne sais quoi between the two main characters.  I didn’t care for any one in this film and was embarrassed by the presence of certain actors who I thought should have passed on this particular job.

So don’t see this movie even if it is playing for free on a cable channel just pass it by.

I give this movie five black holes.

What do we believe by true faith?

Everything taught to us in the gospel. The Apostles’ Creed expresses what we believe in these words: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

    Jude 1:3

I…appeal…to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saint

    Movie Review:  The Martian

Producers: Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer, Aditya Sood, Mark Huffam
    Director: Ridley Scott
    Screen Writer: Drew Goddard
Based on The Martian by Andy Weir
Cast: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig Jeff Daniel’s, Sean Bean, Michael Peña, Kate Mara Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Chiwetel Ejiofor

So a few months ago my son was reading The  Martian and could not put it down.  He told me that every page grabbed him and he couldn’t wait to read what happened next.  So when I had a chance I picked up the book and when I next looked up it was in the wee hours of the morning.  It was an amazing read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes hard science action packed science fiction.

Having said all that you know that my expectations for the movie were high.  If it couldn’t get close to what the book had for the story I was going to go spare.

Fortunately the movie didn’t disappoint.  If you don’t know the basic plot of The Martian is that on a mission to Mars after a base camp was set up a Martian dust storm forces the crew to abandon the planet leaving a crew member behind presumed dead.  But the crew member was alive and once back in the enclosed environment of the base camp has to figure out how to survive on the amount of food, oxygen, water he has left and somehow contact NASA.  It is how he figures out how to survive that makes this story so enjoyable.

Now first warning the F-Bomb gets dropped a lot in this movie.  Second warning some of what he does to survive isn’t pleasant to watch.  If you have young children be prepared to explain how plants get nourishment.

I give this movie three and a half stars.  Read the book (5 stars)

What is faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith in Jesus Christ is acknowledging the truth of everything that God has revealed in his Word, trusting in him, and also receiving and resting on him alone for salvation as he is offered to us in the gospel.

      Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

The plane boss, the plane!   Smiles everyone!  Welcome to Frenetic Friday!

This has been making the rounds so I thought I would show it here also.

Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

For a real world example of this see Venezuela under Hugo Chavez.

Moving from politics to alphabet soup have you heard about the LGBQT(add what ever letters are appropriate) activist millionaire that wants to punish Christians?  Tim Gill said in a recent interview in Rolling Stone magazine that his foundation, The Gill Foundation, is targeting every state that has a religious freedom act, and right now he is hitting every southern state possible.  Or as it states in the article “We’re going into the hardest states in the country,  he (Tim Gill)  says.  We are going to punish the wicked.”  That is how he views us the wicked.  So if you want to know where the money comes to persecute the bakers, florists,  the regular Christian people trying to live their faith it is from millionaires like Tim Gill.

      Culture of Death Alert.

So after Planned Parenthood was found to be selling baby parts you’d think that they couldn’t get lower.  But no they picked up a shovel and started digging.   In a recent artivle in the Federalist Jim Silberman writes how PP helped underaged sex traffickers get abortions for girls fourteen and fifteen years old as well as girls being smuggled across the state or from another country.  No thought about the illegality of the act, nor for the welfare of the young girls.  No it’s all about killing babies and getting the money.  Check out the link.  Planned Parenthood safe judgement free place for underage sex traffikers

      Technology News

Yes it has been awhile since I had a Robotic Overlord update.  And frankly there hasn’t been many new advances into our demise but there has been some cute ones.   For instance meet Pillo.

Yes the latest thing in healthcare isn’t insurance rather it is a robot that will dispense and order your medications for you.  And give you information regarding calories in food, alert providers if you have missed taking medication and contact your doctor.  But here is the paranoid in me with everything being connected via the networks what happens if Pillo decides that kahula cream pie in the refrigerator isn’t healthy for you?  What if Pillo tells the refrigerator not to open.  What if Pillo calls the food police and they remove the pie and give you carrot sticks?  Don’t think it wouldn’t happen.

Have you ever made the “call me” hand sign?  Well with SGNL you can use your hand as a receiver take a look:

Well that’s it good night from Frenetic Friday.

What do you mean it is Wednesday?  Well unfortunately I have had my eye on the ball nose to the grindstone and my ear to the ground.  Which hasn’t really given me a chance to listen to anything other than podcasts.  So no Earworm Wednesday today.  But stay tuned who knows when a song will ricochet off the inside of my head and come out here.

      Just a quick update

So our cable provider decided to have a free preview of some movie channels I don’t get, because I am cheap, but that’s not important right now.

So I power watched some movies the list of which I am going to be reviewing soon.  They are: The Martian, The Accountant, Storks, and Dragon Sword.  Pretty much in that order.

If I think of any other movies I will add to the list.

      How can we be saved?

Only by faith in Jesus Christ and in his substitutionary atoning death on the cross; so even though we are guilty of having disobeyed God and are still inclined to all evil, nevertheless, God, without any merit of our own but only by pure grace, imputes to us the perfect righteousness of Christ when we repent and believe in him.

        Ephesians 2:8–9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
