Q. 119. What is the sixth Commandment?

A. Thou shalt do no Murder.

Q. 120  What is God’s will for you in the sixth commandment?

A.  I am not to belittle, insult, hate, or kill my neighbor–not by my thoughts, my words, my look or gesture, and certainly not by actual deeds– and I am not to be party to this in others;  rather, I am to put away all desire for revenge.  I am not to harm or recklessly endanger myself either.  Prevention of murder is also why government is armed with the sword.

Gen. 9:6; Lev. 19:17-18; Matt. 5:21-22; 26:52

Prov. 25:21-22; Matt. 18:35; Rom. 12:19; Eph. 4:26

Matt. 4:7; 26:52; Rom. 13:11-14

Gen. 9:6; Ex. 21:14; Rom. 13:4

Q. 121  Does this commandment refer only to killing?

A.  By forbidding murder God teaches us that he hates the root of murder: envy, hatred, anger, vindictiveness.  In God’s sight all such are murder.

Prov. 14:30; Rom. 1:29; 12:19; Gal. 5:19-21; 1 John 2:9-11

1 John 3:15

Q. 122  Is it enough then that we do not kill our neighbor in any such way?

A.  No. By condemning envy, hatred, and anger God tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves,  to be patient, peace-loving, gentle, merciful, and friendly to them,  to protect them from harm as much as we can, and to do good even to our enemies.

Matt. 7:12; 22:39; Rom. 12:10

Matt. 5:3-12; Luke 6:36; Rom. 12:10, 18; Gal. 6:1-2; Eph. 4:2; Col. 3:12; 1 Pet. 3:8

Ex. 23:4-5; Matt. 5:44-45; Rom. 12:20-21 (Prov. 25:21-22)

Frenetic Friday

Welcome once again to another Frenetic Friday we have a lot to cover so let’s get started.

Do you remember David Daleiden the head of the Center for Medical Progress? How he was brought up on charges for trying to buy fetal tissue.  On June fourteenth Judge Diane Bull dismissed the charge of trafficking in body parts.  This is a victory against the forces of Planned Parenthood and their ilk.  <source>

So have you heard about Madison Essig?  No?  She is a girl with Down Syndrome that just graduated from high school with a 3.7 GPA.  What’s even more impressive is that no other person with Down Syndrome has every graduated with a full high school diploma from the D.C. Public Schools.  She plans to study at George Mason University where she has been accepted.    Pretty impressive what happens when you let children live isn’t?  <source>

This from Al-Beida Egypt eighty homes owned by Christians were looted and torched after the Muslims found that a building owned by the Christians was planning on being turned into a church.  Fr. Karas Naser a priest with the Coptic Christian Church was kept from harm by some moderate Muslims that took him from his car and stood up to the radicals that were trying to harm him.  <source>

Last tonight let me point you to a great Christian Satire website called the Babylon Bee.

Take for instance this one:  Dispensationalists frantically  adjust end time charts to include Brexit vote.

This and more is available at the website I suggest you go check it out.

Earworm Wednesday: Ballroom Blitz~The Jon Flemming Olsen Acoustic Trio

And in an effort to bring you the outré covers of songs I have a cover of Sweet’s Ballroom Blitz done acoustically, and well done in my humble opinion. Oh and if you are interested Ballroom Blitz is one of the songs on the Suicide Squad movie so everytime I see that trailer the song plays in my head.

Frenetic Friday

In this way only we attain to what is not to say difficult but altogether against nature, to love those that hate us, render good for evil, and blessing for cursing, remembering that we are not to reflect on the wickedness of men, but look to the image of God in them, an image which, covering and obliterating their faults, should by its beauty and dignity allure us to love and embrace them.
-John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 7, Section 6.

Last Sunday something horrible happened and people rose to help. In particular one restaurant chain that has been vilified for its founder’s stand on traditional marriage opened it’s doors on Sunday the day it is normally closed to give out food and drink to blood donors and officers that responded to the scene.

What is that restaurant’s name? Chik-fil-A <source>

This is Mryiam, she and her family were chased out by ISIS and the resettled in a refugee camp while there she was interviewed by a Christian television show pay attention to what she says:

This is a short post today but I hope that you can see the positive response that we as Christians are to have to those who hate us, as Calvin said:

“look to the image of God in them, an image which, covering and obliterating their faults, should by its beauty and dignity allure us to love and embrace them”
