Frenetic Friday at Last!

So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it.

So next Tuesday is Saint Patrick’s day. If where you live is like where I live this weekend will be when they celebrate it. So I thought a little humor from our brothers over at Lutheran Satire would be appropriate.

Saint Patrick’s Bad Analogies

Well fun is fun but the historic Patrick was a beloved saint that brought true Christianity to Ireland where it flourished for 600 years until 1171 after Ireland was conquered by King Henry II and then in 1172 all the churches were forced to submit to the Roman Papacy.

By the way the Highway is an awesome web site with great resources to learn about Christianity you really should check it out.

As the continuing saga of who can and can’t use a locker room continues the latest is from a Planet Fitness where a woman complained that a transgender “female” had come into the locker room where she was changing. Yvette Cournier complained to the management of Planet Fitness because she didn’t feel safe. She was told that Planet Fitness has a “no-judgment” policy, which includes the use of bathrooms and locker rooms by individuals based on “their sincere, self-reported gender identity.”

Cournier unsatisfied with this told as many women as she could in Planet Fitness that “[J]ust so you know, there’s a man they allow in this locker room and they don’t tell you that when you sign up.” This caused Planet Fitness to revoke her membership. But this isn’t the first incident of this in New York, in July of 2013 a transgender “man” was told to use the woman’s locker room at a public pool. Because of this a lawsuit against New York City for access to the public locker rooms. The transgender “man” said because of this confrontation “he” avoids all public locker rooms and restrooms. (Transgender man sues; Planet Fitness bars woman)

Denny Burk points to a “tough critique of transgenderism” an article by Carlos Flores a writer with the Witherspoon institute who says:

We should make public policy and encourage social norms that reflect the truth about the human person and sexuality, not obfuscate the truth about such matters and sow the seeds of sexual confusion in future generations for years to come.

Chris Rosebrough of fighting for the faith is a great guy and a helpful guy that is why you should take a look at the Messed Up Church’s “Want Some False Doctrine in Your Life? Try These Handy Tips!” Now remember this should be what not to do.

Speaking of messed up churches seems that Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) is only seven votes away from changing their definition of marriage to include same-sex unions. Those churches in the PCUSA that don’t support this are of course leaving the denomination, 244 left in 2013 alone. Most say that this latest issue maybe the final nail in the coffin of this denomination. (PCUSA’s demise)

Those of us who remember college remember spring break, beach shorts, sand, embarrassing tattoos that you find after a drunken night. Not me, actually I worked during spring break.

But out of Panama City comes the news that local police wants to shut down the Tabernacle, a Life Center Church, has been running events for spring breakers that the local police says isn’t a youth ministry but rather is a club where spring breakers can party.

Seems the Life Center has a sign out front that reads: “Spring Break Amnesia, The Tabernacle.

The ATM parked right out front grabbed the attention of Sheriff McKeithen, so he went inside to check it out.”You turn around and you look at the walls on the church, and you see t-shirts with graphic explicit sexual pictures on them, and I’m scratching my head. How can this be a church, and this is going on,” said Sheriff McKeithen.

Tabernacle promoters told NewsChannel 7 they provide a safe place for spring breakers to sober up, but the sheriff disagrees, and so does Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman.

“It’s very disturbing, especially inside our city limits here in Bay County,” Chief Whitman said. “I think were better than that.”

( Law Enforcement Says Life Center Church is running a club)

So I went to Spring Break Amnesia just to check it out. And I found some interesting events planned.

Saturday: For the Pretty and the Nasty. This event is hosted by the Kappa Alpha Psi & Omega Psi Phi Fraternities. They are coming in from all different campuses to hit this event so who will win “The Pretty or The Nasty”
Pretty Nasty

Sunday: “Slumber” is a PAJAMA event hosted by the sexiest ladies on the beach!! That means come as you sleep, bring pillows, don’t forget your blankets, and most importantly your friends.
Slumber

Monday: “Anything But Clothes” showcases your artistic side, featuring your mind & body. How creative can you be? Bare as you dare to attend (Toga, Body Paint, Etc..)
This IS NOT a nude event.

So you decide is this a club or is this a church?

And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” Mark 11:17 ESV

Good night see you next week.
