Earworm Wednesday: A Mighty Fortress

Today is October 30, 2013 tomorrow will be October 31.  To the secular world October 31 is Halloween a day when kids and grown ups get dressed up in costumes and go to parties or wander the neighborhoods asking for candy from strangers.   Churches by and large will have “harvest festivals”  where kids sometimes get dressed up in costumes sometimes not.

But for some of us October 31 will mark the 496 year since Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the church door of the All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg.   To celebrate that I give you Glad’s version of that Lutheran Hymn A Mighty Fortress is Our God.

  1. Wonderful! Luther’s own original hymn is much more “bouncy” and syncopated than the version sung in most English-speaking evangelical churches… Glad does this most beloved of Luther’s hymns far better justice!

    1. Thanks I was thinking about posting the hymn in the German version (Eine feste burg ist unser Gott) but with the strange fire conference just over I didn’t want anyone to think I was promoting “tongues”. 8^{D
