Frenetic Friday

Okay it is time, past time for another FRENETIC FRIDAY!

And so let’s begin with a something from England and the Religion of Peace.

So in England an Anglican school where 75% of the students are Muslim it has separate prayer rooms one for the boys and one for the girls, and has decided to remove Christian hymns from it’s assemblies. You have to wonder just how much more they will remove and still refer to themselves as an Anglican school?

Oh and watch what you say about Islam especially on social media as the Obama Justice Department warns against using social media to spread information considered inflammatory against Muslims, threatening that it could constitute a violation of civil rights. Of course inflammatory isn’t really defined as to what that means.

Now let’s switch over to some good news. In Portland a Dr. Michael Ciampi has decided to stop accepting all forms of health insurance and instead has posted his prices on the practice’s website. This has caused him to loose some patients but Dr. Ciampi says by removing insurance as a factor he can charge what he thinks the patient can afford. With insurance for an office visit he had to charge $160.00 but now without insurance he only charges $75.00 and he makes house calls if you can’t come to the office. When besides the movies have you seen a doctor making a house call? Hopefully this is a sign to other doctors as to what can be done.

And here is the coolest wedding party picture ever:

And speaking of the Doctor, yes I know I was just speaking of a doctor but he isn’t The Doctor so here is a little something for the fans:

And that is just episode one.  A big HT to Frank Turk

And because it has been awhile let’s check in with our Robotic Over Lords.

Here is the top three humanoid robots:

And here is the PETMAN robot testing camouflage clothing.

Just think camouflaged robots makes you feel all warm and fuzzy doesn’t it.

See you later.

Earworm Wednesday: Faithfully

So at work my buddy and I were torturing ourselves by quoting Journey lyrics.  So I thought what better than a Journey cover for Earworm Wednesday.  Well little did I know what I was getting myself into there are a lot of Journey covers.  And there is even a channel dedicated to the worst Journey covers ever.  No, don’t worry you won’t experience that particular horror instead I give you Boyce Avenue which as far as my limited searching has produced is the best cover of this song.

Movie Review: Star Trek Into Darkness

Red alert! Red Alert! Star Trek Into Darkness movie review spoilers are ahead!

What do you get when you mix the Space Seed episode with the Wrath of Khan? You get J.J. Abrams latest Star Trek movie.

Kirk and crew are in trouble again, and it is normal Kirk rule bending that has caused it. He’s decided to ignore the prime directive and save a planet with primitive humanoids in doing so he has exposed the natives to future technology.

And Spock does what is right he reports their actions to Starfleet. The action is swift Kirk has been busted and is no longer in command of the Enterprise the ship has been given back to Captain Pike and Spock has been assigned to another ship. But all is not lost as Kirk has been assigned as the first officer to Captain Pike.

The fleet officers have been called together for an emergency a “library” has been destroyed in a terrorist attack by one of the Federation’s own John Harrison. And he isn’t stopping there.  While the fleet officer meet to discuss what to do about the terrorist attack John Harrison  appears and attack the fleet officers! With many of the fleet officers dead, including Captain Pike, Kirk asks to be reinstated as the captain of the Enterprise and to be given the task to track down John Harrison. But it isn’t going to be easy John Harrison has transported himself to an uninhabited portion of of the Klingon home world. Admiral Marcus gives Kirk carte blanche to do whatever it takes to kill John Harrison and arms him with special photon torpedoes.

Kirk captures John Harrison only to learn that Harrison isn’t whom he seems he is in fact Khan Noonien Singh!

I like this movie it was well acted but there are parts of it that frankly I could have done without. First I’d like a little less emotion in my Vulcans. Abrams’ Spock let loose too much for my taste. And also yes Kirk was a ladies man. But Abrams seems to take it to excess. I don’t need to see him in bed with twin alien women. And Abrams has to quit having Spock talk to Old Spock that was the weakest part of the film. Yet saying all that there were perfect choices for the crew Simon Pegg as Scotty is brilliance he nails the part perfectly. Karl Urban reprises his Bones role and again fills it perfectly. The same with Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura perfectly cast. But in my opinion Benedict Cumberbatch steals the show as Khan. His intensity and delivery make him the best Khan since Ricardo Montalbán,

Star Trek Into Darkness has intense action, violence, language, and adult situations (no nudity) I give it three and half photon torpedoes out of five.

Q. 34. How does the Spirit apply to us the redemption purchased by Christ?

A. The Spirit applies to us the redemption purchased by Christ, by working faith in us, and thereby uniting us to Christ in our effectual calling.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, – Ephesians 2:8

So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, – Ephesians 3:17

Movie Review: Iron Man 3

Tony Stark has issues, he can’t sleep, he has panic attacks because of what happened in New York (aka Avengers) and he only feels safe when he is in his armor. His relationship with Pepper is rocky because he can’t sleep and he spends all his time in the lab refining his armor and making different types of armor. Well he is going to need that armor and all the different types of armor as he faces his latest foe the Mandarin.

In my opinion this was the perfect bookend to the Iron Man trilogy. It is definitely better than the second movie and it explores the human side of Tony Stark. It shows that just because he is brilliant, rich and famous those things won’t fix issues what is wrong with his psyche.

This movie contains fantasy violence, language, and sexual situations (no nudity). I give it 4 out of 5 repulsor rays.

Q. 33. How are we made partakers of the redemption purchased by Christ?

A. We are made partakers of the redemption purchased by Christ, by the effectual application of it to us, by His Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:5,6

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3:5,6
